Please be informed that placements are not guaranteed, but are on the basis of a match between current demand from the team and the skills and availability of the student.  Moreover, due to a high volume of applications we receive all throughout the year, we are unable to contact each applicant individually regarding the status of their application.

The Junior Researcher Programme and its Internships

A key role for the Climate Centre within in the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is to foster evidence-based knowledge that informs action on the ground and provides a basis for good decision-making, through close academic collaborations. This includes our own working paper, publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature, as well as an ongoing engagement with young academics in our Junior Researcher Programme. Students have advanced our work in supporting the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and its partners to reduce the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on vulnerable people.

What the Climate Centre offers:

  • 3 months full-time/ 6 months part-time junior researchers.
  • A supervisor who will assist and guide you all throughout your placement.
  • The opportunity to work with current projects, reports, etc.
  • The opportunity to gain practical work experience and professional skills from technical experts.
  • The ability to access network within and outside the organization.
  • A diverse community of learners from all disciplines and backgrounds.
  • The possibility of receiving a stipend.

Who can apply for internships with Climate Centre?

To be eligible for a placement within the organization, students must meet the following criterion.

You are enrolled in a University (Masters or PhD level). We do, however, like to have an understanding of the academic deliverables to see if these match with our assignment.
