Dhangadhi city in Nepal is vulnerable to high temperatures and is facing the adverse effects of extreme heat, which poses significant risks to health, productivity and economic growth. The urban heat island effect exacerbates these challenges, making certain wards of Dhangadhi considerably hotter than the surrounding rural areas, particularly in densely populated wards. The Heat Action Plan presents a framework for implementing, coordinating and evaluating actions to address extreme heat across various timescales. It also aims to assist the Nepal Red Cross by providing guidance on when and where to act before and during heatwave days, as well as outlining the necessary activities for preparedness and response during the heat season.
