Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) context analysis: Burkina Faso and Mauritania
Vulnerable groups in Burkina Faso and Mauritania face greater exposure to weather and climate events as they are often located in areas characterized by increased weather and climate risks, such as flood-prone neighbourhoods. They also lack the adaptive capacity to prepare for future adverse events, as well as access to weather and climate information systems for preventive action against disasters. Project Clima-Social was implemented to improve the climate resilience of populations in both countries, and this Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) context analysis aims to identify particularly vulnerable groups and communities that may experience marginalization due to their overlapping and intersecting identities, and highlight scope for expanded social protection.
